This is not ActionMan related. Though I thought it was worthy of putting up on the site. Some of you whom I met at the shows might have seen this piece in my portfolio. I wanted to draw a Samurai. Really random. Experiment in symmetry.

I'm thinking I might colour it and put it on a tee shirt to sell. Thoughts?

The difference a new scanner makes...

Got a new flatbed scanner yesterday. I only ordered it yesterday online, and it arrived the same day. Good work.

Hey all. This is a commission piece I did for a dude I know in Christchurch. He saw me at the Armageddon expo down there and paid me extra coin to have me draw something larger for him. The request was to have Adam in one of his tee shirts. 3 Meke clothing. Keep an eye out.

Also, big apologies for the image quality. This is a photo off my phone. I'm in between scanners right now. A new one is currently in the process of being shipped to me as we speak.

The bootleg next to the original. A spot i found in Wellington and had to hit. I'm only responsible for the "submit" sticker. As I did not get my Obey Giant stickers till I had arrived back in Auckland.

Back in Auckland now. It's been a fantastic break away. I enjoyed my time in both the fine cities of Christchurch and Wellington. The flight was a fast one, and very uneventful. Which is always the way you want it when you're on a plane.

Anyways, to summarise. Very successful tour. I met loads of cool people. Hello if any of you popped by the site following the shows. A couple even added me to myspace. Which I encourage.

I drew a lot. Was sketching the whole time. Even on the sunday I did not attend in Wellington, a lady hit me up on the way out from having a quick look around.

Made some new contacts. Met some of my peers. Ate loads of cool food, and caught up with old friends while doing so.

Too much fun.


Then I came home to this little surprise. An envelope full of Obey Giant stickers (www.obeygiant.com). One of the ActionMan Adam stickers I had made was a bootleg of an Obey Giant sticker, so I sent it in to Obey Giant. They sent me a bunch back. Awesome.

Everyone should have access to some conveyor belt Sushi. I honestly wish auckland had something like this. If it does i don't know about it. So so good.

So. Te papa is the new zealand museum. I've been to wellington a few times since it's been built. Shamefully i had never been in though. Finally i got my ass in there. Well worth it too. Amazingly designed and uniquely new zealand. The free exhibitions were great and i paid four bucks to ride a whale. Nice. Ch check it out.

Before the show

I saw this on colombo street before setting up my booth. Was cool to see the advertising for the show on the streets. It obviously worked. The crowds showed up and it's now been confirmed that the christchurch show will be returning next year. Nice!

Apologies for the horrid scan. This is a drawing by one of my peers. Michel Mulipola. Dude keeps himself real busy. Working at Gotham Comics in Auckland. Drawing his own strips. Wrestling. You name it! Anyway. Michel did his take on Actionman Adam. This is the result. Although again, my scanner doesn't do it all justice as some of the greys fell off. Cool to see Adam in another style.

Sketchin Sketchin...

These are some of the sketches I did for people during the show, and after the show. Saturday I had an actual list of people I owed sketches to, that I was making my way though. If you had to wait for one of my sketches. Thanks for your patience.

Personally I think sunday was the better day to have gotten a sketch from me. I had less demand. Less pressure, more time. So I was better at putting my lines down with more though. not only that. I think Saturday I was drawing almost the whole day. So by the time Sunday rolled around, I was pretty good at cranking them out.

Aftermath

Well sunday was slower than saturday. As expected. Though i still sold a few books and did some sketches for people. I was able to score a sketch of thing from fantastic four off of jim cheung. It's very cool. Added it to my collection. Awesome. What else? I dunno. The whole weekend was pretty intense, busy, fun. It was great to meet all the people i did meet. New contacts. Friends. My friend alice kept me company while i did some sketching. She just bought a new house here in chch. Nice. Good work alice.

Saturday

These kind people were some of the first to say hello to me. Buy some products and keep me company while i sketched. It was a very busy intense day. I had a lot of fun. Saw my brother and some friends and made some new contacts too. Including king kaps. Who put on a rad concert later in the day.

Night before i head to the show. My step bro nick and i are having a couple of quiets in. Cold outside right now. Very cold. Looking forward to heading south. Nick won't be there unfortunately. Work in progress

This is a piece i am finishing up. I'm testing out this blog feature on my phone. This way i should be able to update progress at the shows and on my journey south.
